OUR STORY

Open Hearts for Humanity began with a simple but powerful belief: healing after sexual violence should never happen alone, and prevention must be part of the conversation if real change is to occur.

Our founder created this organization after witnessing how often survivors are left to navigate recovery without spaces that truly understand the complexity of trauma. Too many people are expected to move forward without access to compassionate, comprehensive care, and too many communities lack the education and resources needed to prevent harm before it happens. This reality shaped a vision — one that honors both healing and prevention as equally essential parts of protecting human dignity.

Guided by empathy, resilience, and a deep commitment to survivor-centered care, our founder envisioned a model that brings together evidence-based therapies and holistic, human-centered approaches to healing. The goal is not only recovery, but restoration — helping survivors reconnect with themselves, rebuild trust, and rediscover hope in environments that feel safe and empowering.

At the heart of Open Hearts for Humanity is the belief that prevention begins with education, awareness, and community responsibility. By creating spaces for learning, advocacy, and early intervention, the organization works to address the conditions that allow abuse and exploitation to continue, while supporting survivors in reclaiming their lives.

What began as a personal mission has grown into a broader commitment: to build systems of care that prioritize safety, compassion, and long-term healing, while working toward a future where fewer people experience harm in the first place. Open Hearts for Humanity exists to ensure that survivors are believed, supported, and given the opportunity not only to heal — but to thrive.

OUR PURPOSE

Is to reduce the incidence and impact of sexual abuse through comprehensive services including crisis intervention, prevention education, culturally responsive outreach, and long-term healing support. We aim to advance equity, promote mental health, and catalyze systemic transformation by addressing the root causes of sexual violence and advocating for sustainable community-based solutions.

OUR MISSION

Open Hearts for Humanity exists to end sexual abuse through evidence-based prevention, survivor-centered services, and equitable access to trauma-informed care. We partner with communities to break cycles of violence, elevate survivor voices, and build pathways to healing and systemic change.

OUR VISION

We envision a world where sexual violence is eradicated, survivors are empowered and supported without barriers, and every community has the knowledge, tools, and resources to foster safety, healing, and justice.

MEET OUR FOUNDER

When I began the work that would eventually become Open Hearts for Humanity, one truth became impossible to ignore: too many survivors are left to carry the weight of trauma without the long-term support, understanding, and community they deserve. At the same time, too many conversations begin only after harm has already occurred.

Open Hearts for Humanity was created from the belief that we can — and must — do better. Survivors deserve compassionate, trauma-informed care that supports healing beyond crisis response, and communities deserve access to education and resources that help prevent abuse and exploitation before they happen. Healing and prevention are not separate goals; they are deeply connected responsibilities.

Our vision is to create spaces where survivors are treated with dignity, where healing is approached holistically, and where education empowers individuals and communities to recognize risk, respond with care, and foster safer environments for everyone. This work is not only about recovery, but about changing how we understand and address trauma as a society.

I believe that meaningful change happens when compassion is paired with action. Through advocacy, education, and survivor-centered care, Open Hearts for Humanity is committed to building systems that prioritize safety, accountability, and hope for the future.

Thank you for being part of this work and for helping create a world where fewer people experience harm and more people have the opportunity to heal.

With gratitude,

Imani Gant
