PREVENTION EDUCATION

Here you can access courses, recorded videos, articles, resources, and more to provide education and awareness on sexual assault prevention.

Building a Future Free From Sexual Violence

Prevention is the heart of our mission and organization. While we provide support and advocacy for survivors, we also recognize the importance of addressing sexual violence before it happens. Prevention advocacy focuses on education, awareness, early intervention, and community engagement to help create safer environments for everyone.

We believe that meaningful prevention requires honest conversation, trauma-informed education, and a commitment to changing the conditions that allow violence to occur.

Our Prevention Advocacy Program is designed to educate, empower, and engage individuals, schools, workplaces, and communities across the United States.

Understanding Prevention

Sexual violence prevention is not about placing responsibility on survivors. It is about addressing harmful behaviors, social norms, systems, and environments that contribute to violence.

Effective prevention includes:

  • Education on consent and healthy relationships
  • Bystander intervention skills
  • Trauma-informed awareness training
  • Community engagement and outreach
  • Early identification of harmful behaviors
  • Promoting accountability and cultural change

Our goal is to support a culture where respect, consent, and safety are understood and upheld.

Community Prevention Programs

Our prevention advocacy extends beyond education into active community engagement and outreach.

School & Youth Education

We provide prevention-focused education designed for schools (K-12), youth organizations, and young adults, including topics such as:

  • Consent and boundaries
  • Safe Touching
  • Digital safety and online exploitation awareness
  • Healthy relationships
  • Respectful communication
  • Early intervention strategies

“Knowledge is power. Education breaks silence, and truth creates change.”

-OHH Philosophy

Workplace & Organizational Training

Workplace environments play a critical role in prevention. We offer education for organizations focused on:

  • Sexual harassment prevention
  • Creating safe workplace cultures
  • Reporting and response systems
  • Bystander intervention in professional settings
  • Trauma-informed workplace practices

Community Awareness & Outreach

We engage communities through awareness campaigns, educational materials, and public engagement efforts that promote prevention and survivor support.

This may include:

  • Awareness events and campaigns
  • Community workshops
  • Educational partnerships
  • Social media awareness initiatives
  • Collaborative prevention efforts with local and national organizations

Survivor-Informed Prevention

Our prevention work is guided by survivor voices, lived experience, and trauma-informed principles.

We recognize that survivors are often leaders in prevention work, and their experiences help shape more effective education, awareness, and cultural change efforts.

Prevention must always:

  • Respect survivor experiences
  • Avoid victim-blaming language
  • Focus on accountability and education
  • Center consent and respect
  • Promote safety and dignity for all individuals

Building Cultural Change

Ending sexual violence requires more than individual awareness—it requires cultural transformation.

We aim to challenge harmful norms, promote accountability, and build communities where:

  • Consent is clearly understood and respected
  • Survivors are believed and supported
  • Harmful behaviors are addressed early
  • Bystanders are empowered to act safely
  • Education is accessible and ongoing
